Introduction
So it's been almost 15 years since my family set off from Metcalfe, Ontario
for one year of travel and exploration.
Some of the media that these memories are stored on are starting to age, risking being lost forever. In particular, we brought an 8mm camcorder with us to capture the sights. These 8mm tapes are already difficult to play back, so I thought it high time that they were imported into a computer, so that we can keep them for a much longer time.
I also plan to scan some of the 35mm photos that were taken during the course of our travels. This hasn't happened yet, but hopefully I'll get around to it in the near future.
I've also scanned the entire contents of the journal that I kept while travelling. It's amazing how much more coherent the writings get as the trip progresses.

My Journal
I guess it's worth noting that the first journal entries start a few
weeks after we left Ottawa. While we were in Hawaii, visiting Pearl Harbour,
someone came to our campsite and calmly packed up our tent and a few of
our personal belongings and left. Luckily, this didn't include our backpacks
and all of our clothes, but it did include our sleeping bags, our math texts,
our journals and some of our personal hygiene items.
